"Old man and the sea" holds a vast, complicated hidden meaning underneath its seemingly dull and repetitive sentence structures. A story and message of a broken man, questioning his own ability, meaning and purposebto this world, he's venture to the sea becoming more of an internal struggle against his pessimistic thoughts rather than a battle with sharks or trying to catch the big fish. With that said, it seemsbto lack the ability to bring me in and make me feel empathy or sympathy for the man or Hemingway.
