The Old Man Sleeps
I noticed on page 18 the quote, "They were strange shoulders, still powerful although very old, and the neck was still strong too and the creases did not show so much when the old man was asleep and his head fallen forward."
The bold portion is what caught my attention. The olds man's age creases are gone as he sleeps. I was thinking this could possibly mean that the only truly relaxing time is during sleep. All pain, and depression sometimes disappears when a person is asleep. This could represent how Hemingway feels in real life; his most peaceful moments are when he is asleep.
