Question 5
When question 5 asks, A fishermans job is to bring fish to the people. Why did Santiago lose sight of the shore pursuit of a big fish? I believe the story is trying to tell us he lost his desire to write for the people.

Re: Question 5
I feel like the old man losing sight of the shore represents that Hemingway no longer cares to write for the people anymore, but that he would rather write for himself and that is why he is going for the big fish.

Question 5
I think Hemingway lost his desire to write for the people and he just wants to keep his ideas to himself.

Re: Question 5
maybe he had wanted to take a break, maybe keeping things to himself to perfect or get his ideas together
