The stars, the moon the sun, and the big fish
When the Old Man talks about the stars, the sun, and the moon I think he is talking about ideas to big for anyone to understand, and that he is glad we don't have to worry about them. The old man is struggling with just the big fish, so big and graceful he doesn't think people are even worth, or capable or understanding an idea that deep because he is having trouble grappling with his own idea how could other people even hope to understand (eat) it.
Sorry if this seems a little far fetched, I just woke up.
