Three perfect sentences

I found the novel The Old Man and the Sea to be monotonous and dull, lacking the sense of originality that one hopes to find in a novel. This elegantly written story about an old man whose perseverance holds strong until life puts him down, as it always does, was the least bit shocking. Although the novel is very well written, it has little dimension, as if it were something I have read several times.
